How do we work? What does the working relationship look like?
ZenithSpark is a digital marketing and communications consultancy based in Stourbridge in the West Midlands. It was founded by Rich Jarrott in 2026 on a straightforward premise: that a business built around interesting, substantive work and being selective about what it takes on, produces better results for clients than one that tries to offer everything to everyone.
That single paragraph, probably tells you a lot, but there are other things prospective clients most often want to know, and rarely think to ask. Questions like what it actually feels like to work with an agency, not what services are on offer, but how the relationship operates day-to-day, who does the work, what they can expect at each stage, and what happens when something needs changing.
Here’s an honest account.
The first conversation
Everything starts with a conversation. We primarily talk by phone, WhatsApp, video calls or email, whichever suits you. There’s no discovery form to fill in, no qualifying process to pass, and no sales pitch at the end of it. The purpose of the first conversation is to understand what you’re trying to achieve, get a sense of where you currently are, and establish whether ZenithSpark is genuinely the right fit for what you need.
Sometimes that means saying we’re not the right fit. If what you primarily need is something we’ve deliberately chosen not to offer, social media management, for instance, we’ll say so and point you toward someone better suited. That honesty is more useful to you than a conversation designed to close a sale for a service that isn’t right. It’s also more useful for us. We don’t want to disappoint clients by attempting to provide something with which we are not aligned.
If the first conversation suggests we can help, the next step depends on what the work involves.
Assessment and audit
For SEO and digital marketing work, we start with an assessment of where you are before we recommend anything. That means a technical audit of your website, a look at your current search visibility and Google Business Profile, an analysis of the competitive landscape for your key searches, and an honest picture of what’s holding you back and what the realistic improvement looks like.
For copywriting and corporate communications projects, the assessment is a conversation about brief, audience, tone, and purpose. The things that help our understanding of what the piece needs to do and what success looks like before any writing starts.
We don’t charge for initial consultations. For more substantial audit work, for instance, a full technical SEO audit or a detailed competitor analysis, we’ll discuss how that’s handled as part of agreeing the scope.
ZenithSpark offers four interlinked services: technical SEO, digital marketing, copywriting, and corporate communications. Each of them requires genuine expertise, not just familiarity with a set of tools and it is important that they are aligned.
The work itself
Unless we advise you otherwise, the person who spoke to you at the start is the person doing the work. There are no account managers whose job is to manage the relationship while someone else delivers the service. No junior team members executing a strategy they weren’t involved in developing. Rich Jarrott handles every client engagement directly, which means the experience and judgment that informed the recommendation is the same experience and judgment applied to the implementation.
That has practical implications. Communication is direct, decisions are made quickly, and the nuance of what you actually need doesn’t get lost in handoff between departments. It also means we’re selective about the number of clients we work with at any one time. We’d rather work properly with a smaller number of businesses than spread too thinly across a larger number.
How does ZenithSpark charge?
Project work, for example, a detailed technical audit, a website copy project, a press release, or an award entry, is quoted as a fixed fee based on scope. You know what you’re paying before the work starts, and the fee doesn’t change unless the scope does.
Ongoing work such as monthly SEO management, Google Business Profile management, regular content production, and retainer-based corporate communications support, is charged monthly. We don’t require long minimum contract periods. If the work is producing results, you won’t want to leave. If it isn’t, we shouldn’t be asking you to stay.
We don’t publish rates online because the range of work is too varied for a public rate card to be meaningful. (And to be political for a second, with the constant price inflation, we’d be updating the site every few months.) What we will do is give you a clear, straightforward quote once we understand what the work involves.
Reporting and communication
For ongoing SEO and digital marketing work, we report monthly on the metrics that indicate whether the work is producing commercial results. This includes organic traffic from relevant searches, local pack visibility, Google Business Profile performance, and enquiry volumes. Reports are plain-language documents focused on what’s changed, what caused the change, and what’s planned next. Unless there is a very good reason, these are not 40-page documents designed to look comprehensive while obscuring whether anything is actually working.
Ongoing communication is direct. If something comes up between reports that affects your business, a Google algorithm update, a technical issue, or an unexpected change in visibility, we’ll tell you about it as soon as we spot it, rather than waiting for the next scheduled report.
What we don’t do
It’s worth being clear about this.
We don’t use black-hat SEO tactics. This includes link schemes, keyword stuffing, and private blog networks. These typically (although not always) produce short-term gains and long-term penalties. We don’t make promises about rankings or timelines that aren’t grounded in an honest assessment of your specific situation. We don’t produce reports full of activity metrics that bear no relationship to whether your business is doing better.
We also don’t take on more clients than we can serve properly. If we’re at capacity when you get in touch, we’ll say so honestly rather than overpromising and underdelivering.
We’re located in Stourbridge in the Black Country. That means we know the West Midlands market from the inside. We understand the commercial character of this region, the differences between its towns and cities, and the way businesses here tend to operate.
If we sound like the type of people you would like to work with, then get in touch. Call 01384 468035, send a WhatsApp to 07440 279887, or use the contact form.
