Your digital marketing, SEO and communications partner in the West Midlands
ZenithSpark is a digital marketing and communications consultancy based in Stourbridge in the West Midlands. It was founded by Rich Jarrott in 2026 on a straightforward premise: that a business built around interesting, substantive work and being selective about what it takes on, produces better results for clients than one that tries to offer everything to everyone.
That’s not false modesty about scale. It’s a deliberate choice about what kind of work is worth doing.
The person behind it
Rich Jarrott has spent over twenty years working across disciplines that most people in digital marketing haven’t touched, and most people in public affairs haven’t either.
His career started in political communications. For five years he worked as a lobbyist for Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, representing the interests of the business community at local authority level, with MPs and peers in Westminster, and at EU level, leading business delegations to meetings with EU Deputy Commissioners, working with Members of the European Parliament and their committee staff, and managing the Chamber’s public-facing communications including multiple broadcast media appearances each month for BBC local radio and commercial stations.
He organised regular visits by figures from the Bank of England, including Professor Charles Bean, then executive director and chief economist of the Bank of England and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee to meet with a selected audience of Shropshire business leaders. He wrote features that carried his byline in the regional evening newspaper the Shropshire Star. He was, in the terminology of the time, the Chamber’s PR man though the work was considerably more varied than that description suggests.
From there, his career moved into digital marketing and online retail at a moment when both were genuinely new territory. He worked with luxury jewellery and fashion retailers, achieving the number one Google ranking for the search term “watches”, one of the most competitive terms in UK retail.
Technical SEO work undertaken included feats such as recovering over £900,000 in lost sales for a major racecourse owner through SEO intervention following a site migration that had gone badly wrong. He also wrote copy for brands whose products are stocked at Harrods, and for the Irish fashion designer Orla Kiely. He built engaged social media communities of over 30,000 followers for retail clients and delivered B2B email campaigns with open rates consistently above 8%, roughly double the industry average.
Later, his work moved into education and government communications. He wrote documentation and guidance materials for the UK Government’s Turing Scheme — the international education placement programme that replaced Erasmus+ after Brexit — and produced editorial content published on the official UK Erasmus+ platform, covering projects ranging from LGBTI+ inclusion initiatives in Scotland to community heritage work in Birmingham.
He also spent time writing for an FSA-regulated gold bullion dealer, navigating the specific compliance requirements of FCA-regulated financial promotions, and writing for aesthetic clinics and health supplement brands within the ASA and MHRA guidelines that govern those sectors. He also worked in the developing solar energy market as marketing manager for a company that both built solar parks and offered wholesale panels, batteries and inverters to the trade.
He holds a full UK amateur radio licence and the internationally recognised CEPT HAREC certification, which is relevant less as a biographical detail and more as an indication of the kind of person he is: someone who engages seriously with technical subjects for their own sake, not just where there’s a commercial reason.here’s a commercial reason to.
He currently presents on community radio, including live shows as well as producing shows for community groups as diverse as support organisations for families affected by alcohol addiction to non-league football fans and UK wrestlers. He brings an unparalleled combination of corporate expertise and entrepreneurial insight to every project. His journey spans from managing multi-million-pound government communications programmes to facilitation at European Social Fund events in Brussels and organising online conferences for 250 attendees.

Why ZenithSpark exists
After two decades working for other businesses, including agencies, retailers, government bodies, and consultancies, the question was what kind of practice was worth building.
The answer wasn’t a full-service agency. Full-service means being adequate at many things, which tends to mean being excellent at none of them. It also means taking on work that doesn’t particularly interest you because the model requires a certain volume of revenue. Social media management is the obvious example, a legitimate service, a large market, and work that Rich actively chose not to offer. Not because it isn’t valuable to clients, but because doing it well requires a level of daily investment in platforms and content cycles that would crowd out the work that actually engages him. Of course, if you wish him to advise you and suggest someone who is skilled in that area, he’d be delighted to point you in the right direction.
ZenithSpark instead does four things: technical SEO, digital marketing, copywriting, and corporate communications. Each of them is a discipline Rich has practised at a serious level for an extended period. Each of them requires genuine expertise, not just familiarity with a set of tools. And each of them benefits from the overlap with the others ,the technical SEO understanding informs the copywriting, the public affairs background informs the corporate communications and media preparation work
That integration is not something you find in a larger agency where different teams handle different services without much conversation between them.
Who we work with
We work with businesses of most sizes and types across the West Midlands, Coventry, Worcestershire, and Staffordshire, from owner-managed trades businesses and independent retailers to professional services firms, charities, manufacturers, and public sector bodies. We also work with organisations further afield where the nature of the work doesn’t require local presence.
What the businesses we work best with tend to have in common is not their size or sector but their attitude: they want to understand what they’re paying for, they’re sceptical of promises that sound too good, and they’d rather have an honest conversation about what’s achievable than be sold a package.
That suits us well.
Our approach combines:
- Strategic Thinking – Developed through years of managing government and EU communications projects
- Technical Expertise – Hands-on experience with WordPress, CMS platforms, Google Premier Partner standards
- Creative Excellence – From video production using Adobe Premiere to building social media communities of 30,000+ engaged followers
- Measurable Results – Proven track record of delivering 8%+ email open rates and six-figure budget management
Our West Midlands advantage
We’re located in Stourbridge in the Black Country. That means we know the West Midlands market from the inside. We understand the commercial character of this region, the differences between its towns and cities, and the way businesses here tend to operate. That local knowledge informs the SEO and marketing advice we give in a way that a regional office of a national agency simply can’t replicate.
It also means there’s a real phone number, answered by a real person, at the end of every engagement..
